Summertime Captions For Awful People

Today is the first day of Autumn.

This means it is time to say goodbye to Summer. It is time to realize that we can do better than Summer. For some of us, perhaps it’s time to pretend we never even met Summer. That’s right, Summer. We’ve moved on.

Need more proof, Summer? Look at my new relationship status on Facebook:

Now, some folks (mostly friends and co-workers of Summer’s) might say that I simply couldn’t handle Summer because it was just too hot for me. And, ya know what, maybe that’s true. Maybe I prefer a season that I can curl up and read with, a season who can wear a light sweater or jacket without getting overheated, a season who can pull off colors like orange, golds and browns. A season like Autumn.

But, hey, no hard feelings, Summer. We had a good few months and that’s more than a lot of people can say. To show that Summer isn’t all bad, I have put together a sort of retrospective of all things you.

Bats, Balls, Bros and Brews

We All Scream For Tetraethyllead

Even Lazier Days Of Summer

Fire Up The Grill

Out Of Campsite, Out Of Mind

End Of Summer, Back To The Grind

Who knows, Summer. Maybe a year from now, we’ll meet again and things will be different. Maybe things with Autumn won’t work out and I’ll be looking for a whole new season (not likely!) in a few months. I don’t know how these things work. I’m not some, like, seasonologisticist or fancy-schmansy whatever. I’m just a boy standing in front of a season and wanting to put on longer sleeves. If that’s wrong, then I don’t want to be right.

Goodbye, Summer.

  1. Today, on my subway train ride into The Grind, a tourist wearing plaid shorts, a tee shirt and sandals, sat next to me. It was 55 degrees. I guess he forgot to pack a calendar reminding him that summer’s over. I’m A-okay that it’s Autumn. Hey, this is the season of caramel dipped apples and the New York Film Festival: what matters most in life.

  2. I’ve been singing the last verses of “Hot Fun in the Summertime” all morning…I know my coworkers love it and it fits nicely with the cool day today.
