1940 First Marriage

NOTE- Janice scratched out Mike's face from this photograph using a nail file.

Mike’s first marriage was to Janice Monty. The pair met at the 1940 Electroshock and Experimental Pharma-Psychology Convention in Beaumont, Texas where both had taken jobs as human test subjects for four days at $10/day. A week later, the pair married in a civil ceremony at the Beaumont Court House.

Pulling together their $80, the two intended to travel the country. Unfortunately, they got no further than Marfa, Texas when Janice began to display some unusual side effects: excessive foaming at the mouth and elaphantitis of the ears. She was taken to the nearest hospital where she was examined. Shaking their perplexed heads, the doctors knew of no cures.

Hearing this, Mike told Janice he was going to step out to grab a pack of gum and would be right back. He never returned.

On October 11, 1940, Janice was granted a divorce from Mike on the ground of abandonment.
