1985 The Grapes of Wrath

After only 14 months in prison, Mike escaped in what is considered, to this day, one of the most impressive escapes ever orchestrated. Embarrassed at what the world press dubbed as ‘The Grape Escape’, Mexican officials have never released an official account of the escape itself. Of the few facts that have come to light, scholars have pieced together the following possible scenario:

  1. Mike bribed a guard to smuggle him in a single bunch of Concord grapes
  2. Around noon, Mike strolled casually around the main yard eating his grapes.
  3. While passing the northern gate, Mike spits a grape seed into the eye of prison guard Manuel Beltrones, 25, father of 3.
  4. With Beltrones temporarily blinded by the momentary feeling of slight discomfort, Mike lifts Beltrones’ keys and walks out of the prison.

With assistance from his associates in various drug cartels, Mike is never recaptured by the Mexican government. After two months of searching and under pressure from the international community, Mike was given immunity from further prosecution and all previous crimes officially expunged from his records.
